Hello Xanga!

It's been 9 months since I've written anything. Alot has happened. I lived in the house in Winterville, NC until last month. I absolutely adored living out in the country. There was a tobacco field in our backyard. I could also go for long walks down the country roads. It was marvelous.

I spent my summer at various North Carolina beaches and pools. A trip to Phoenix and Sedona, AZ and the Grand Canyon. A week in Cali visiting my old roommate. A week in Wyoming to visit my brother and sis-in-law and to attend the Rodeo at Frontier Days. A day in Colorado. A weekend in TN camping and white-water rafting. And my final summer of work at Pitt.

I moved to Chicago the first of August. I started working in the PICU in Children's Memorial Hospital in Lincoln Park in Chicago. I am also living in Lincoln Park. I've now been here one month. I'm enjoying exploring the city and my neighborhood.

It's a new year. It's amazing how fast time flies.

My roommate moved back to California. Since I am now roommateless, I decided to move out of my 2 bedroom apt. A friend of mine here in Greenville bought a house and has invited me to move in with her. I will be moving the first of February. It's out in the country. So i will have a yard. There is also a very nice deck and grill. And a PUPPY!!!! I'm very excited.

I worked on Christmas eve and Christmas night. But my parents and sister came the day after Christmas. It was good to get to spend some time with them. We had great weather so we went to the beach! We also went to the NC Aquarium. I think the sharks and jelly fish were my favorite.

Coming up in March, 2 friends and I are driving to Charlotte, NC for a Michael Buble concert. WooHoo! So exciting.

It's been a month since I updated last. Sorry Xanga friends.

Did I ever tell you that I ran my first 5K???? It was great!

Last week my roommate and I went to the outer banks to cheer on our friend as he ran the half marathon there. We spent the day at a beach house there that belonged to friends. It was amazing!!!!! It was a VERY wealthy area.

I get to see my family for thanksgiving. I'll be driving to Ohio on Thanksgiving day. I plan to leave here around 2am so that I can join my family for our Thanksgiving meal. I'm so excited.

Work is going well. I'm going to be flipping shifts about every week for the rest of this year. Ugh! But at least I was able to get my holiday schedule that i want. I'll be working christmas eve night and christmas night but have the rest of that week off. My family will be coming here to NC to visit. Yeah!

Tonight it struck me what a responsibility I have at work. I'm entrusted with the lives of kids-kids who are loved by God, family, teachers, and friends (not always those last three). And I'm the one who gets to take care of them through their darkest hours. Wow!!! It blessed me to realize that.

Anyways, my trip to the Blue Ridge mountains was great. I climbed the highest mountain in the Blue Ridge mountain range. The leaves were starting to change so the colors were beautiful. I decided that I officially LOVE the mountains.

Then last weekend I ran my first ever 5k!!! My goal was simply to run/jog the whole thing without stopping or walking. I did. Yeah! I only started running about 2months ago. This was the longest distance I have run so far. Now I want to run more and do another 5k in December.

I work most of this week and weekend. But I'm driving down to Charleston, SC on Monday night after work to see a friend I met in Costa Rica. She is also a nurse and works in an ER there in Charleston. I'm so excited to get together with her again and also to see the city of Charleston.

Jordy (my bird) is now sitting on my finger with no problem. He will also kiss my nose and chirp at me. Still haven't gotten him to say anything yet, but we're working on it.

Fairs

I love county and state fairs. It has been forever since I have been to one. So when I heard the Pitt County Fair was this week, I suddenly got a very big urge to go! I desperately wanted a funnel cake. Unfortunately only 1 friend was actually able to work their schedule to come with me. But that was enough. Sooo.....

Wednesday night, Loyal and I headed off to the county fair for a funnel cake. In addition to my funnel cake, I saw a magic show, some tight rope walkers, some dirt bikes riding around in a wire cage, and some animals. I also got to ride one ride that spins in circles and swings back and forth till it is almost verticle. I LOVED it. I love the feel of my stomach dropping. Ohhhhh, so fun!

I'm working tonight, will go home and get a couple hours of sleep, and then will drive across the state to go hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains this weekend. I can't wait!
